International Hospitality and Tourism Management

The PhD in International Hospitality and Tourism Management program was the Asia Pacific’s First Post Graduate International Centre of Excellence 5 stars Accredited by the Asia Pacific Institute for Events Management. The program was offered by LPU Batangas in Academic Year 2016-2017. This advanced graduate program develops individuals’ expertise in independent research, data collection, and scholarly writing in the field of their specialization. It also prepares the students for a high-level career in the hospitality and tourism industry. Contemporary hospitality, travel and tourism issues, international business strategic management, organizational theory, leadership in global management are some of the focused areas of study. To complete the PhD program, a student must successfully pass the comprehensive examination, propose and complete a dissertation on a specific aspect of hospitality and tourism management.

Graduates of the PhDIHTM program are expected to attain the following objectives 3-5 years after graduation: 

  • Assume an executive role in the academe, hospitality, and tourism industries applying effective leadership, and advanced understanding of key management principles and ethical standards. 
  • Develop innovative and relevant research-based products and services in the field of hospitality and tourism. 
  • Operate a Business related to the hospitality and tourism industry 

Student outcomes are the sets of competencies (related knowledge, skills, and attitudes) that all learners are expected to demonstrate upon graduation. 

  • Demonstrate leadership competencies in leading teams in a cross-cultural and diverse workforce
  • Formulate a strategic plan for hospitality and tourism organizations.
  • Analyze philosophical theories in relation to principles and practices in hospitality and tourism.
  • Evaluate ethical standards applied in hospitality and tourism organizations.
  • Produce innovative research utilizing a statistical package to generate a new body of knowledge in the hospitality and tourism sector.
  • Present and publish high-impact quality researches for continuous enhancement in the international hospitality and tourism industry.
  • Design relevant business marketing model or framework for sustainable hospitality and tourism development
  • Create an advanced entrepreneurial business management plan related to hospitality and tourism enterprise.
  • Propose policy enhancement for legal issues related to the growth and development in the hospitality and tourism industry
