Doctor of
Dental Medicine

The Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) Program is a six-year program consisting of basic science, clinical science, and dental public health courses. The DMD program aims to produce graduates for the general practice of the profession who are scientifically knowledgeable, technically capable, and socially sensitive in the maintenance of health. The graduate shall advance oral health as an integral part of the general health and total well-being of the individual.

LEVEL OUTCOMES

Graduates of the Doctor of Dental Medicine Program are expected to attain the following objectives 3 to 5 years after graduation:

  • Have acquired supervisory / managerial position related to the field of specialization in a health care institution applying the technical principles and skills of the profession.
  • Engage in private practice in the field of Dentistry that adheres to the professional, ethical, legal and social standards.
  • Pursued continuous learning for professional growth and development.
  • Participated in the socio-civic activities that would contribute to the development of the profession and the society.

At the end of the program, the dental students shall possess the ability to:

  • Apply knowledge of physical, social, natural and health sciences, and humanities in the practice of dentistry.
  • Provide quality oral health care.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Plan and deliver community and extension dental services.
  • Engage in research activities.
  • Apply business principles, entrepreneurship, practices and processes.
  • Practice lifelong learning and continue to be a life-long learner.
  • Practice ethical/ legal/ moral principles and social accountability.
  • Demonstrate nationalism, internationalism and dedication to services
  • Practice beginning management and leadership skills utilizing systems-based approach to health care.
  • Collaborate with inter-professional teams.
  • Demonstrate readiness to pass the Dentist Licensure Examination (DLE).
