Master of Science in
Criminal Justice specialized in Criminology

This program prepares students to excel in the field of Criminology and Criminal Justice by equipping them with the advanced knowledge and skills for positions of leadership and responsibility in private, non-profit, and government organizations, dealing with issues of crime, justice, and law enforcement.  It provides training in social science research and methods for students seeking to pursue academic careers. This is attained through coursework and learning experiences that emphasize up-to-date knowledge about contemporary policies and practices in crime and justice, and the development of skills needed for students to become more globally competitive in the fields.

The complete program curriculum for Master of Science in Criminal Justice specialized in Criminology

Three (3) to five (5) years after graduation, alumni of Master of Science in Criminal Justice with Specialization in Criminology shall; 

  • be committed practicing criminal justice professionals equipped with advanced knowledge, and necessary skills and attitude;
  • be competent research-oriented professionals applying investigative and critical thinking skills in managing and problem-solving;
  • be humanity-oriented and collaborative individuals who are able to lead and network with national and global clientele, criminal justice practitioners, and other institutions.

At the end of the program, MSCJ students are expected to: 

  • Demonstrate perspectives to crime and law (1,2)
  • Apply advanced and scientific knowledge and skills essential to the practice of Criminology and the Criminal justice profession (1)
  • Analyze, criticize and solve problems related to the management and practice of Criminology and criminal justice through the conduct of researches and critical studies. (2)
  • Lead, interact and influence through the employment of appropriate communication tools to colleagues, local, national and global clientele and other stakeholders. (1,3)
  • Recognize and respect human nature and complexities of gender and cultural diversity (3)
