Student Assistantship Program

About the program:

The Student Assistantship (SA) Program is a special privilege extended through the generosity of the University, through the President. It is designed for qualified LPU-Batangas students who are in need of financial assistance while pursuing their studies. Through this program, student assistants receive scholarship benefits and are provided opportunities to develop valuable soft skills through training and practical work assignments in actual workplace settings. The program aims to enhance students’ professional growth by combining financial support with meaningful hands-on experience.

As the SA Program is a privilege granted by the University and not an employment contract or vested right, the University reserves the sole discretion to approve, renew, suspend, or terminate the grant in accordance with the LPU-Batangas Scholarship Guidelines and the availability of funds.

 

I. QUALIFICATIONS

Interested students who wish to avail of the Student Assistantship Program may file their application at the Scholarship Office.

Qualification Requirements for the Student Assistant (SA) position include the following:

A. Initial Appointment

  1. The applicant must be a Senior High School (SHS) graduate with an average grade of at least 80% of its equivalent.
  2. Enrolled in the qualified programs (Non-Board Programs, Board Programs: BS Psychology, BS Customs Administration, BS Criminology).
  3. With a combined family income of Php 800,000 and below.
  4. The SA applicant must have a performance evaluation rating of at least 2.5 for his On-the-Job Training (OJT) for at least two weeks.

B. Re-Appointment

  1. For the grant to be retained, the SA must obtain a general average of 2.50 or its equivalent without any failing mark, with a load of not less than 18 units during the immediate past semester of the grant, and a performance rating of at least 85%, as evaluated by the Department Head.

 

II. NATURE OF WORK

  1. The SA shall be assigned primarily to the President’s and Institutional Affairs Office. If additional SAs are available, they will be designated to other departments or offices to perform administrative and clerical functions under the direct supervision and guidance of the respective Department Head. They may also be assigned to do such other work as may be determined by the Department Head.
  2. They shall render 30 hours (per week) of duty as a Student Assistant.
  3. Their schedule of classes shall be determined by the Department they are assigned to. Therefore, the Department Head shall set the schedule of office duty of the SA before the latter proceeds for their enrollment.

The SA may be transferred from one Department to another in accordance with the needs of the school, provided that the transfer is made with the recommendation and approval of the Department Head.

 

III. PERIOD OF THE STUDENT ASSISTANTSHIP

  1. The grant is given on a semestral basis. The grant is given on a semestral basis. At the end of each semester, the SA’s performance shall be evaluated by the Department Head. Renewal of the grant for the succeeding semester shall be subject to the SA attaining the required minimum performance evaluation rating and maintaining the prescribed general weighted average in accordance with the University’s scholarship guidelines.
  2. The grant is given on a semester basis, after which their performance will be evaluated by the Department Head. If they meet the required minimum performance evaluation rating and general Average, the SA is assigned to continue for the next semester.
  3. For the Summer Terms, the SA who wishes to avail of the allowances may work from 30 hours per week but will have to pay for their tuition and miscellaneous fees for the subject enrolled.

 

IV. BENEFITS

  1. The SA will be entitled to free tuition fees with daily allowance.
  2. The SA shall be paid an allowance of thirty-eight pesos (Php 38.00) per hour.

 

V. APPLICATION

  1. Accomplish the application form with the following attachments:
    • Photocopy of Form 137
    • 1X1 ID picture
    • Certificate of Good Moral Character
    • Photocopy of the result of LPU-Batangas Entrance Examination
  2. Take and pass the psychological test given by the Counseling and Testing Center.
  3. Submit the latest BIR Form 2316 for the combined income of the parents.
  4. Undergo an interview with Appointed Scholarship Committee Members.
  5. Undergo OJT for at least two (2) weeks.
  6. Qualified SAs will be endorsed by the Scholarship Office and assigned to the Human Resources Department for their work placement.

Peter P. Laurel (PPL) Scholarship

About the grant:

The PPL Scholarship is named in honor of its benefactor, Dr. Peter P. Laurel, President of LPU-Batangas. This program provides financial assistance to deserving, high-achieving students who are determined to succeed despite financial constraints.

Note: This scholarship is exclusively available to incoming freshmen enrolling in board programs.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS & REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must submit the following documents for evaluation:

  1. Certified True Copy of Grades (Grade 12 for New Students; Previous Semesters for Current Students).
  2. Certificate of Good Moral Character
  3. Recommendation from the Principal/Adviser (New Students) or Recommendation from the Dean (Old Students).
  4. An essay detailing the family profile, personal hobbies, and chosen career path.

Merit Scholarship Grant

About the grant:

This academic scholarship is given to deserving incoming Grade 11 and College freshmen who qualify based on the result of the Scholarship Exam. The grantee will be entitled to receive 25% to 100% Tuition Fee discount for 2 consecutive semesters, provided that the scholar meets the grade requirement of at least a GWA of 1.75 (90%) with NO GRADES lower than 2.00 (87%) in any subject/course.

(150 slots combined grantees for college and SHS applicants)

    • At least 90% General Average with no grades lower than 85% in any subject/course in the completed 2nd grading period for Grade 10 (incoming Grade 11) and completed 1st semester for Grade 12 (incoming college freshmen)

FULL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is designed to recognize and reward the exceptional academic accomplishments of Senior High School students who complete their education at LPU-Batangas. By offering this grant, the university provides an incentive for academic excellence and aims to retain talented students within our university community.

This scholarship provides a 100% tuition and miscellaneous fee exemption for the duration of the student’s chosen program.

Criteria:

This scholarship is designed for students who rank 1st (overall) in their graduating class with at least a GWA of 1.75 (90%) with no grades lower than 2.00 (88%) in any course.

 

PARTIAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is designed to recognize and reward the exceptional academic accomplishments of Senior High School students who complete their education at LPU-Batangas. By offering this grant, the University provides an incentive for academic excellence and aims to retain talented students within our university community.

This scholarship provides a 50% tuition and miscellaneous fee exemption for the duration of the student’s chosen program.

Criteria:

This scholarship is designed for students who rank 2nd  (overall) in their graduating class with at least a GWA of 1.75 (90%) with no grades lower than 2.00 (88%) in any course.

Renewal:

The grantee can enjoy the grant until they graduate, provided that the scholar will be able to maintain the GWA of 1.75 and no grades lower than 2.00 in any course.

Founder's Scholarship Grant

About the grant:

The Founder’s Scholarship was named after the founders of the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas. This scholarship is offered to incoming Senior High School and College Freshmen for both board and non-board programs.

The scholarship grant entitles the recipient to the following benefits:

    • Free Tuition Fee and Miscellaneous Fee
    • Book Allowance
    • Monthly Stipend

Criteria for the Founder’s Scholarship Grant Application

  1. The applicant must not have taken any collegiate program prior to taking the competitive examination.
  2. The applicant must satisfy the residency requirement in the locale required by the grant.
    • JOSE P. LAUREL (JPL) Applicants – Resident of any municipality or city outside Batangas Province (10 slots)
    • SOTERO H. LAUREL (SHL) Applicants – Resident of any municipality or city in Batangas Province, and must not be a resident of Batangas City (10 slots)
    • SOTERO H. LAUREL (SHL) BARANGAY Applicants – Resident of any Barangay in Batangas City (5 slots)
  1. The applicant must be of Good Moral Character.
  2. The applicant must be a graduating student from any recognized government or private high school.
  3. The applicant must satisfy the grade requirement of a weighted average of at least 94%, with NO grade lower than 88% in any subject.
  4. The applicant must not have taken any collegiate program before taking the competitive examination.

Criteria for Selection

For a student to qualify for the scholarship grant:

(1) Applicant’s score in the Differential Aptitude Test should be at least Above Average (AA).

(2) Scores from different areas: (Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Abstract Reasoning, Mechanical Reasoning, and Space relations should not be lower than Above Average (AA).

 

Renewal

The grantees can choose any program of their choice. They can enjoy the grant until they graduate, provided that the scholar will be able to maintain the GWA of 1.75 and no grades lower than 2.00 in any course.

 

Probationary Period

If the grantee fails to meet the required Grade and General Weighted Average (GWA), they shall be given a Probationary Period, provided the following conditions are met:

    • GWA is 2.00 or better
    • No grade in any individual subject is lower than 2.25

The Grantee may only avail of the Probationary Period once throughout the duration of the grant.

Note: Once the scholarship is terminated, the student is permanently ineligible to avail of or reapply for the said grant.

President's Discount

The President’s Scholarship offers financial aid to talented students who demonstrate potential despite having a weaker performance in one area of standardized test.

Slots: The President’s Scholarship utilizes slots that remain unfilled by the Founders’ Scholarship Program.

 

Criteria

  • Applicants for Founders’ Scholarship
  • Achieve an overall score of at least 190 or higher on a standardized test (DAT)
  • Earn a score on at least one subtest that falls below average on that subtest

 

Benefits

The grantee receives 75% discount on Tuition and Miscellaneous Fees for the duration of the program.

 

Renewal

The grantee can enjoy the grant until they graduate, provided that the scholar will be able to maintain the GWA of 1.75 and no grades lower than 2.00 in any course.

Note: Once the scholarship is terminated, the student is permanently ineligible to avail of or reapply for the said grant.

Discount Privileges

ALUMNI DISCOUNT

(one-time application only)

The discount is enjoyed by any immediate family members of the LPU-B Alumni who are currently enrolled at the University. The recipient is entitled to receive a 10% Tuition Fee discount every semester until he/she graduates.

 

How to apply?

Submit the following at the Registrar’s Office:

  • Original / Photocopy of Birth Certificate of the Alumnus/Alumna
  • Photocopy of any of the following: LPU Alumni ID, Diploma, Transcript of Records of the Alumnus/Alumna

 

SIBLING DISCOUNT

The discount is enjoyed by the students whose siblings are currently enrolled at the University. The younger sibling is entitled to receive a 15% Tuition Fee discount and an additional 5% for every sibling, thereafter, based on chronological age.

They may re-apply in the succeeding semester/s provided he/she is still qualified. Sibling discount is NOT applicable during the summer term.

 

How to apply?

Submit the following requirements to the Accounting Office:

  • Photocopy of Birth Certificates of the siblings
  • Copy of downpayment receipts of both siblings

Note:

  • Should be submitted within 1 month after the start of classes.
  • For renewal of the discount, you may only submit the copies of downpayment receipts of siblings.

 

SPOUSE DISCOUNT

The discount is enjoyed by the students whose spouses are currently enrolled at the University. The wife is entitled to receive a 15% Tuition Fee discount for the current semester and may re-apply in the succeeding semester/s provided he/she is still qualified.

 

How to apply?

Submit the following requirements at the Accounting Office:

  • Photocopy of Marriage Contract
  • Copy of downpayment receipts of the wedded pair

Note: Should be submitted within 1 month after the start of classes.

 

PERSON with DISABILITY (PWD)/SENIOR CITIZEN DISCOUNT

(one-time application)

The recipient can enjoy a 20% Tuition Fee discount every semester until he/she graduates provided that the student shows proof of eligibility.

Submit the following at the Accounting Office:

  • Original/Photocopy of PWD/Senior Citizen ID
  • Certified True Copy of Student’s Registration Form

Government and Private Sector

Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UNIFAST) – Tertiary Education Subsidy

The TES is a government grants-in-aid program made possible through Republic Act 10931 that gives P60,000 per school year to financially needy students in private schools and those studying in private schools in municipalities and cities without public universities. The TES is used by students to pay for their tuition and miscellaneous fees, and other educational expenses. It is the flagship social development program of President Duterte’s administration on higher education.

The priority beneficiaries for the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) are:

  • Students who are part of households included in the Listahanan 2.0, ranked according to the estimated per capita household income; and
  • Students not part of the Listahanan 2.0, ranked according to estimated per capita household income based on submitted documentation of proof of income to be determined by the UniFAST Board;

The HEI submits/applies on behalf of the students.

Resident Scholarship

Students who meet the following criteria are eligible to receive from 50% to 100% Tuition Fee (TF) discount for one (1) semester:

  • General average of 1.75
  • No grades lower than 2.00
  • Top 15 overall ranking

Special Grants

BS Accountancy 100% Tuition Fee discount

This scholarship is given to the Top 2 ranking students for each level. This applies to regular incoming Sophomore/ Junior/ Senior students, other than those who qualify for the Resident Scholarship.

Sophomore / Junior Level

To qualify, the student must have obtained a GWA of 1.75 in all subjects with no grade lower than 2.00 in semesters of their Freshmen / Sophomore year.

Senior Level

Qualifications:

  • The student must pass the qualifying examination.
  • The student must carry the required regular load every semester.
  • The student does not enjoy any scholarship grant from any sponsor, inside or outside LPU-Batangas.
  • The student must obtain at the end of every semester a final grade of 2.0 in Accounting, Business Law, and Taxation Subjects.

Note: The Dean recommends qualified students based on the above criteria.

(1) Applicant’s score in the Differential Aptitude Test should be at least Above Average (AA).

(2) Scores from different areas: (Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Abstract Reasoning, Mechanical Reasoning, and Space relations should not be lower than Above Average (AA).

 

Renewal

The grantees can choose any program of their choice. They can enjoy the grant until they graduate, provided that the scholar will be able to maintain the GWA of 1.75 and no grades lower than 2.00 in any course.

 

Probationary Period

If the grantee fails to meet the required Grade and General Weighted Average (GWA), they shall be given a Probationary Period, provided the following conditions are met:

    • GWA is 2.00 or better
    • No grade in any individual subject is lower than 2.25

The Grantee may only avail of the Probationary Period once throughout the duration of the grant.

Note: Once the scholarship is terminated, the student is permanently ineligible to avail of or reapply for the said grant.

President's Discount

The President’s Scholarship offers financial aid to talented students who demonstrate potential despite having a weaker performance in one area of standardized test.

Slots: The President’s Scholarship utilizes slots that remain unfilled by the Founders’ Scholarship Program.

 

Criteria

  • Applicants for Founders’ Scholarship
  • Achieve an overall score of at least 190 or higher on a standardized test (DAT)
  • Earn a score on at least one subtest that falls below average on that subtest

 

Benefits

The grantee receives 75% discount on Tuition and Miscellaneous Fees for the duration of the program.

 

Renewal

The grantee can enjoy the grant until they graduate, provided that the scholar will be able to maintain the GWA of 1.75 and no grades lower than 2.00 in any course.

Note: Once the scholarship is terminated, the student is permanently ineligible to avail of or reapply for the said grant.

Alumni/Sibling/PWD

Discount Privileges

ALUMNI DISCOUNT

(one-time application only)

The discount is enjoyed by any immediate family members of the LPU-B Alumni who are currently enrolled at the University. The recipient is entitled to receive a 10% Tuition Fee discount every semester until he/she graduates.

 

How to apply?

Submit the following at the Registrar’s Office:

  • Original / Photocopy of Birth Certificate of the Alumnus/Alumna
  • Photocopy of any of the following: LPU Alumni ID, Diploma, Transcript of Records of the Alumnus/Alumna

 

SIBLING DISCOUNT

The discount is enjoyed by the students whose siblings are currently enrolled at the University. The younger sibling is entitled to receive a 15% Tuition Fee discount and an additional 5% for every sibling, thereafter, based on chronological age.

They may re-apply in the succeeding semester/s provided he/she is still qualified. Sibling discount is NOT applicable during the summer term.

 

How to apply?

Submit the following requirements to the Accounting Office:

  • Photocopy of Birth Certificates of the siblings
  • Copy of downpayment receipts of both siblings

Note:

  • Should be submitted within 1 month after the start of classes.
  • For renewal of the discount, you may only submit the copies of downpayment receipts of siblings.

 

SPOUSE DISCOUNT

The discount is enjoyed by the students whose spouses are currently enrolled at the University. The wife is entitled to receive a 15% Tuition Fee discount for the current semester and may re-apply in the succeeding semester/s provided he/she is still qualified.

 

How to apply?

Submit the following requirements at the Accounting Office:

  • Photocopy of Marriage Contract
  • Copy of downpayment receipts of the wedded pair

Note: Should be submitted within 1 month after the start of classes.

 

PERSON with DISABILITY (PWD)/SENIOR CITIZEN DISCOUNT

(one-time application)

The recipient can enjoy a 20% Tuition Fee discount every semester until he/she graduates provided that the student shows proof of eligibility.

 

How to apply?

Submit the following at the Accounting Office:

  • Original/Photocopy of PWD/Senior Citizen ID
  • Certified True Copy of Student’s Registration Form

Note: If the student is entitled to more than one of the above other discount privileges, the highest discount shall prevail.

Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UNIFAST) – Tertiary Education Subsidy

The TES is a government grants-in-aid program made possible through Republic Act 10931 that gives P60,000 per school year to financially needy students in private schools and those studying in private schools in municipalities and cities without public universities. The TES is used by students to pay for their tuition and miscellaneous fees, and other educational expenses. It is the flagship social development program of President Duterte’s administration on higher education.

The priority beneficiaries for the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) are:

  • Students who are part of households included in the Listahanan 2.0, ranked according to the estimated per capita household income; and
  • Students not part of the Listahanan 2.0, ranked according to estimated per capita household income based on submitted documentation of proof of income to be determined by the UniFAST Board;

The HEI submits/applies on behalf of the students.

Special Grants

Resident Scholarship

Students who meet the following criteria are eligible to receive from 50% to 100% Tuition Fee (TF) discount for one (1) semester:

  • General average of 1.75
  • No grades lower than 2.00
  • Top 15 overall ranking

Special Grants

BS Accountancy 100% Tuition Fee discount

This scholarship is given to the Top 2 ranking students for each level. This applies to regular incoming Sophomore/ Junior/ Senior students, other than those who qualify for the Resident Scholarship.

Sophomore / Junior Level

To qualify, the student must have obtained a GWA of 1.75 in all subjects with no grade lower than 2.00 in semesters of their Freshmen / Sophomore year.

Senior Level

Qualifications:

  • The student must pass the qualifying examination.
  • The student must carry the required regular load every semester.
  • The student does not enjoy any scholarship grant from any sponsor, inside or outside LPU-Batangas.
  • The student must obtain at the end of every semester a final grade of 2.0 in Accounting, Business Law, and Taxation Subjects.

Note: The Dean recommends qualified students based on the above criteria.

 

This scholarship grant allocates slots per program category: Board and Non-Board.
