As we continue to double our effort on converging the industry and the academe, we held our own version of the World of Work Cafe, at the LPU Freedom Hall, March 22, made possible by the Career Development, Alumni, and Placement Office.
World cafés are used to seamlessly help a large group contribute towards solving a problem. In our case, we chose to tackle {insert topic}. Ensuring that every participant has a voice and is taken along the decision-making journey, we clustered them into smaller groups. These smaller groups rotated between a series of tables, discussing a specific talking point with the help of facilitators.
These facilitators presented the summary of answers at the end of the program in a plenary session. Here are some highlights of the said session:
A common observation among our industry partners is that they found fresh graduates enthusiastic and eager to learn since it is their first time entering the professional world. However, some of the Gen Z’s have fickle minds and are eager to withdraw from their positions. Our industry partners advised our lycean participants: “Once na mahalin niyo ang trabaho niyo, tuluy-tuloy na yan.” They also assured them that since LPU-B has linkage with their companies, it would be an advantage in getting a position.
Our industry partners were also asked about their minimum expectations for new graduates applying for their companies. Emotional intelligence and positive attitude such as integrity and honesty are expected from them. We also took note of ways LPU-B can work with companies to ensure that we can cater to their human resources needs such as maintaining harmonious relationships with them and holding programs like the World of Work Café.
Companies such as MC, Optimal Laboratories, Pioneer Lab, applauded LPU-B as they had witnessed that our alumni have the necessary skills that are needed to work in their companies.
We would like to send our gratitude to the companies who attended the said event:
