Nigerian Dignitaries visit LPU-Batangas
Nigerian dignitaries visited the Lyceum of the Philippines University yesterday November 19, 2013. They were welcomed by the University President Mr. Peter P. Laurel and Vice Governor of the Province of Batangas Hon. Mark Leviste, LPU officials and Tourism and LPU high students.
A short program was held in the honor of the foreign dignitaries at the Freedom Hall. Hon. James Faleke, Chairman of the Committee on Maritime Affairs of the Nigeria House of Representatives- hailed LPU-Batangas for providing quality maritime education and discipline to the scholars. He also disclosed that he is confident that when these scholars finish their schooling they will be successful maritime professionals some day. The Nigerian delegation also asked the audience to offer a moment of silence for the victims of typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda. Philippine and Nigerian ties date back to 1962.
Representatives from the Nigerian Assembly, members of the Nigerian Press and officials of the Nigerian Maritime Safety Agency or NIMASA are visiting to check the living conditions and academic performance of their Nigerian scholars at the Lyceum of the Philippines University and the University of Cebu.
