To strengthen the research culture and enhance proposal development among faculty, Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas (LPU-B), through its Center for Research and Innovation (CRIN), held a seminar on Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Priorities, including Proposal Evaluation, National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) Membership Procedures, Funding Development, and R&D Opportunities last June 20, 2025, at the LPU-B Main Campus.

The event was organized in collaboration with the DOST-NRCP to equip Lycean researchers with the knowledge and tools needed to craft high-impact proposals for possible funding from national agencies and research councils.

Engr. Francisco R. Barquilla III, Assistant Regional Director of DOST-CALABARZON, opened the session by presenting the Research and Development (R&D) Opportunities and the Regional R&D Agenda of DOST, highlighting priority areas aligned with national development goals.
Mr. Jesse M. Nicavera followed an in-depth discussion on the Research Priorities of NRCP and the Proposal Evaluation Process, providing valuable insights into how proposals are reviewed and selected for funding.

Meanwhile, Ms. Karizza C. Yambao introduced the NRCP Membership and Application Procedures, encouraging eligible researchers to become part of the council to expand their collaborative networks and access to support.
Dr. Mary Anne Ramos-Tumanan, professor at the University of the Philippines, also shared expert insights and best practices in proposal writing and research development.
