In celebration of the United Nations’ World Creativity and Innovation Day, representatives from the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas (LPU-B) participated in the 2nd Innovation Forum held at the JPL Hall of Freedom, LPU-Manila on April 21, 2025. The forum aimed to foster innovation in education, research, and community engagement through enhanced knowledge of intellectual property rights and technology transfer.

The event featured the IPOPHL Basic Training and IP Management Seminar, conducted by specialists from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL). The sessions were led by Mr. Richmond A. De Leon and Engr. Maria Teresa Q. Laggui, who provided key insights into the fundamentals of intellectual property, IP protection, and strategic management, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding original ideas, inventions, and creative works in both academic and commercial settings.
Complementing the seminar was a Patent Drafting Workshop facilitated by Dr. Jonathan Salvacion of Mapua University, which focused on equipping researchers with practical skills in drafting patent applications for applied research outputs. The session aimed to bridge the gap between research and commercialization by encouraging the protection and utilization of academic innovations.
By joining the Innovation Forum, LPU-B reaffirmed its commitment to cultivating a culture of creativity, research, and entrepreneurship. The knowledge and tools gained from the forum are expected to enhance the university’s research capabilities and IP initiatives, ultimately contributing to national development goals and the global innovation ecosystem.
