LPU-Batangas has once again earned the prestigious Autonomous University Status from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the highest distinction awarded to higher educational institutions in the Philippines. LPU-B is among the 77 universities in the country to achieve this distinction.
The Autonomous University Status reflects LPU-Batangas’ compliance with the highest academic standards, covering its performance from July 1, 2019, to September 15, 2023. Despite the unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic, which affected many institutions in meeting specific indicators, LPU-Batangas has successfully demonstrated excellence across key areas such as instruction, research, and community service. CHED acknowledged the pandemic-related constraints but emphasized the importance of maintaining exemplary performance in the post-pandemic era to qualify for future renewal of this status.
This achievement further solidifies LPU-Batangas’ role as a trailblazer in the higher education sector, committed to producing globally competitive professionals and strengthening its international linkages. The reacquisition of the Autonomous Status underscores the institution’s resilience, innovation, and steadfast commitment to academic excellence, even in the face of global disruptions.
The result was publicly made available through CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 07, series of 2024, in accordance with the provisions of the 1987 Philippine Constitution, Republic Act (RA) No. 7722 or the “Higher Education Act of 1994,” and CHED Memorandum Orders No. 6 and 12, series of 2023.
