LPU Batangas Celebrates Environment Awareness Month

Lyceum of the Philippines University Batangas is one with the world in celebration of the Environmental Awareness Month. The Office of Student Affairs and the Lyceum Supreme Student Council spearheaded the activity and prepared several contests for the students to join: Photo Exhibit, On-the-spot Mosaic Contest and Eco Fashion Show.

The winners of the contests are the following:

Photo Exhibit

1st Place – Martin Plata (CBA)

2nd Place – Jeremiah Martin De Villa (CITHM)

3rd Place – Geremiah Kyle Salarda (Crim)

On-the-spot Mosaic Contest

1st Place – Criminology (Lemuel Aala, Elmer Pastor, Ron Manimtim, Karen boongaling, Katerina Marqueses)

2nd Place – CITHM (Bernard Dela Cruz, Chris Ryan Caraig, Janno Limos, Victor Realingo, Wendy Lou Perez)

3rd Place – Engineering (Justine Ann Seruelas, Keizel Daine Montalbo, Marvin Datingaling)

Eco Fashion Show Competition

1st Place – Marjorie Ontanillas (CBA)

2nd Place – Ferrine Teriote (Dent)

3rd Place – Lemuel Aala (Crim)

The event was highlighted by the talk of the invited guest speaker, Ms. Angelia Gabrena Ong, Ms. Earth 2015. Ms. Ong talked about her advocacies on the environment and further expounded on the 5Rs for the environment: Re-think, Re-Use, Reduce, Recycle and Respect. She also emphasized that saving the environment may be a huge responsibility but if we will act together with small gestures of heroism for the environment nothing is impossible. She also encouraged everyone to act now using her famous tagline “We will because we can!” stressing that together, we can protect and preserve our one and only Mother Earth.
