Strengthening its commitment to global partnerships and nurturing future maritime leaders, Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas (LPU-B) held a significant Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony on November 12 with Royal Wagenborg. This partnership marks a significant collaboration aimed at enhancing opportunities for students within LPU-B’s maritime programs, equipping them with resources to thrive in the maritime industry.
The signing took place in the Audio-Visual Room at the Lyceum International Maritime Academy (LIMA) Campus, with key Royal Wagenborg representatives in attendance, including Mark Hoving, Senior Operational Manager, and Jessie Pana, Operations Manager. Representing LPU-B were university officials who emphasized the institution’s dedication to providing students with pathways to professional growth and real-world experience.
Ahead of the MOA signing, the event began with a heartwarming cultural performance by the Lahing Batangan Dance Troupe and a powerful marching performance by 100 student beneficiaries of the NSA Cadet Program at the LIMA Campus gymnasium. Their disciplined and spirited display was an attestation to the pride and commitment LPU-B’s maritime students hold for their craft. It also highlighted the university’s emphasis on discipline, teamwork, and resilience—qualities that are essential for success in the maritime profession.
With this MOA signing, LPU-B and Royal Wagenborg formalized a partnership that goes beyond financial support. The Cadet Scholarship Program will provide student beneficiaries with the practical tools and knowledge they need to excel. In addition to scholarships, cadets will gain exposure to the operational standards and expectations of a reputable maritime organization, enriching their educational experience and preparing them to meet global industry demands.
As one of LPU-B’s latest milestones, its continuous pursuit of collaboration with international associations reflects the university’s mission to support the professional and personal growth of its students. With the support of Royal Wagenborg, LPU-B’s maritime cadets are better positioned to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the modern maritime world, carrying forward the university’s legacy of academic excellence and industry relevance.
