The Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas proudly honors the great achievement of Gwyneth Nicole Abarquez, a BS International Travel and Tourism Management alumna, who earned the prestigious Medallion for Excellence at the 47th WorldSkills International Competition, held from September 10-15, 2024, in Lyon, France.
Competing in the Restaurant Service Category, Abarquez displayed exceptional skill and dedication, representing both LPU-B and the Philippines on an international stage. She is one of six (6) Filipino delegates who competed in various categories at the esteemed global competition, further solidifying the Philippines’ growing reputation for producing highly skilled professionals.
This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to the world-class training provided by LPU-B’s College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (CITHM) and the support of a highly skilled team. She was guided by Dr. Janzell Palbacal, her expert mentor, alongside co-experts Dr. Ryan Mejia, Dr. Rhea Corina Mejia, and Ms. Jo-Anne Muncada, whose expertise played a pivotal role in her success.
The Medallion for Excellence is awarded to competitors who demonstrate outstanding competence and mastery in their field, and Gwyneth’s achievement reflects her commitment to excellence, professionalism, and hard work. Her journey to this success inspires not only her fellow Lyceans but also the next generation of hospitality professionals.
The LPU-B community takes immense pride in Gwyneth’s accomplishment and the collaborative efforts of her mentors. Together, they have once again demonstrated the university’s commitment to producing globally competitive graduates who embody the institution’s values of excellence and innovation.
