LPU-Batangas participated in the PATHWAY National Event: “Pathways to Employability and Entrepreneurship in the New Normal,” hosted by the European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines on October 14, 2022, at Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati. Aside from Higher Educational Institutions from Europe and the Philippines, the event was participated by various industry partners and government agencies.
LPU-B, together with other PH universities, is an active project partner of Promoting the Employability and Entrepreneurship of Higher Education graduates through Innovative Ways in the Philippines (PATHWAY). As Dr. Emmanuel Houze, Dean, IAE School of Management, University of Montpellier mentioned: “Pathway starts with the mindset of students – they need to think that starting a business is an opportunity, that they can study anything they want, get an idea then start a business, and universities should open the gate.”
With this, the National Event allowed exchanges of ideas and substantial discussions on employability, entrepreneurship, policy reforms, workforce trends, and partnership among academe, industry, and government, among others. The gathering also gave an opportunity for the Pathway team to present the result of their study on entrepreneurship competencies in the Philippines facilitated by LPU-Batangas. They were also able to solicit comments and suggestions from those who were present at the National Event.
The PATHWAY Project is a collaborative effort of various HEIs in the Philippines:
Ateneo De Manila, University, Benguet State University, Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, with the dedicated support of the partners from Europe: University of Alicante (Spain) and University of Montpellier (France). This is also in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education and Suyomano. The said project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
LPU-B team, on the other hand, was represented by its Pathway Team – Dr. Maribeth G. Buenviaje (Executive Director, Strategic Communications, Linkages & International Affairs), Dr. Xenia Bitera (Research Director), Dr. Alex Ylagan (Director, Career Development & Placement), Dr. Rey Fernan Refozar (Dean, College of Business Administration), Dr. Sergel Dacut (Supervisor, Linkages & International Affairs) and Dr. Annalie Patena (Chair, Math & Sciences).
