High School Lyceans brought pride and honor to the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas (LPU-B) after an outstanding performance at the World Scholar’s Cup: Tournament of Champions held at Yale University in Connecticut, USA, from November 14 to 20, 2024. Competing against more than 2,700 scholars from across the globe, they earned sixteen medals and two trophies, making their mark among the best in the world.

The team, composed of Ann Margaret F. Lumanglas (Grade 11 STEM-ENGG), Precious Nicole D. Calatong (Grade 11 STEM-MED), and Shan Allen Kristoffer S. Beron (Grade 12 STEM-ENGG), stood out in both individual and team categories, showcasing their academic prowess and collaborative spirit.
Calatong was a top performer, earning two gold medals and a trophy for ranking in the Overall Top 10 of the Debate Category. She also secured a silver medal in Writing.
Lumanglas shone with a gold medal in Debate and a silver medal in Writing, while Beron added to the team’s success with silver medals in both Debate and Writing.
The team distinguished itself as one of the Top 6 Debate Teams, securing a gold medal and a trophy. Additionally, they earned silver medals in both the Scholar’s Bowl and Collaborative Writing.
Their success was made possible with the expert guidance of the High School Principal Dr. Jamie Lee F. Mendoza, and Area Chair Mr. Dan Emerson V. Desiderio. Their mentorship and support were instrumental in preparing these Lyceans for this international competition.
