LPU-Batangas High School secured multiple awards at the esteemed World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Global Rounds in Bangkok, Thailand, from September 5-11, 2024, with participants from over 35 countries, where three outstanding Lyceans brought pride to LPU-Batangas with remarkable individual and team achievements.
Ann Margaret F. Lumanglas was recognized as the Top Scholar, earning Gold Medals in Debate and Collaborative Writing. Precious Nicole D. Calatong also impressed, securing a Silver Medal in Debate and the Challenge Bowl. Meanwhile, Shan Allen Kristoffer S. Beron received a Silver Medal in Collaborative Writing and two additional Silver Medals in the Challenge Bowl.
In the team categories, the Lycean trio earned Silver Medals in both Team Writing and Team Debate, making them qualify for the prestigious Tournament of Champions at Yale University, Connecticut, USA.
Coaches were Mr. Dan Emerson V. Desiderio, Area Chair for Languages and Social Sciences, and Dr. Jamie Lee F. Mendoza, High School Principal, who also played dual roles as both mentors and Debate Adjudicators at the competition, guiding their team to success.
Their journey reflects the strength of Lycean excellence, marking not just a victory for the team but also a proud moment for the entire LPU-Batangas community. As they set their sights on Yale, their story of dedication and brilliance continues to inspire future scholars.
