Doctor of Philosophy in
International Hospitality and Tourism Management

The PhD in International Hospitality and Tourism Management program was the Asia Pacific’s First Post Graduate International Centre of Excellence 5 stars Accredited by the Asia Pacific Institute for Events Management. The program was offered by LPU Batangas in Academic Year 2016-2017. This advanced graduate program develops individuals’ expertise in independent research, data collection, and scholarly writing in the field of their specialization. It also prepares the students for a high-level career in the hospitality and tourism industry. Contemporary hospitality, travel and tourism issues, international business strategic management, organizational theory, leadership in global management are some of the focused areas of study. To complete the PhD program, a student must successfully pass the comprehensive examination, propose and complete a dissertation on a specific aspect of hospitality and tourism management.

THREE (3) TO FIVE (5) YEARS AFTER GRADUATION, ALUMNI OF PHD IN INTERNATIONAL HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT SHALL:

  • Develop globally competitive professionals for an executive role in the hospitality and tourism industries who demonstrate effective leadership, management and technological transformation.
  • Create an advanced entrepreneurial business management plan, write quality researches and construct marketing plans for international hospitality and tourism management.
  • Devise a progressive (Manage) sustainable program to manage environmental impacts, philosophical, legal concerns, and ethical standards for hospitality and tourism industry.

BY THE TIME OF GRADUATION, PHD IN INTERNATIONAL HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT STUDENTS SHALL HAVE THE ABILITY TO:

  • Develop practical knowledge in leading teams and managing human resources in cross-cultural and diverse workforce.
  • Recommend appropriate management information system and technological advancement for international hospitality and tourism operations.
  • Formulate strategic decision in hospitality and tourism organizations involving the role of human resources, financial and international events management.
  • Propose a comprehensive project plan and justify policy enhancement for international hospitality and tourism advancement.
