The Senior High School (SHS) Lyceans of LPU–Batangas once again made their mark on the international stage as they emerged victorious at the World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Hanoi Winter Round 2025, earning the title of Debate Champion Team and placing Top 4 Overall in the Senior Division.

Representing the institution with pride and intellect, Precious Nicole D. Calatong (STEM-Medical), Hendrix Reign T. Gupo (ABM), and Sarah P. Letoille (HUMSS) secured a total of three trophies, 19 gold medals, and six silver medals, ranking among Asia’s best young scholars. Guided by Dr. Jamie Lee F. Mendoza, Senior High School Principal, and Mr. Dan Emerson V. Desiderio, Area Chair, the team’s success reflected the institution’s commitment to academic innovation and global exposure.
Before taking part in the competition, these Lyceans paid a courtesy visit to the Philippine Embassy in Hanoi, where they were warmly welcomed by Ms. Shirley D. Nuevo, First Secretary and Consul, who extended her encouragement and support as the team proudly represented the Philippines.
The World Scholar’s Cup is an international academic tournament that celebrates collaboration and curiosity through events such as debate, writing, and the Scholar’s Challenge. It provides a platform for students to apply knowledge beyond textbooks, engaging in topics that span science, arts, literature, and global affairs.
With their remarkable performance, the LPU-Batangas team earned qualification for the Global Round, where they will continue their journey among the world’s most promising young scholars.
Through experiences that bridge education and real-world application, the university continues to shape learners who are not only knowledgeable but also confident, adaptable, and ready to lead.
Indeed, their victory in Hanoi stands as a proud remark that excellence is achieved through passion, preparation, and purpose—values deeply rooted in every Lycean journey.
