The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) together with Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas (LPU-B) and University of Alicante (UA) Spain officially launched the Sustainable Innovative Knowledge Application for Tourism (SIKAT) Project via Zoom, July 12, 2021.
SIKAT is a training program funded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) that will be delivered by the University of Alicante Spain in coordination and collaboration with the LPU – Batangas. The said project is designed on improving and updating the curriculum needs of the Tourism sector and will also tackle topics that have emerged regarding the new challenges for local universities relevant to post-quarantine and pandemic scenarios.
Present during the launching were Atty. Lilly Freida M. Milla, Deputy Executive Director III, International Affairs office, CHED; Senior Vice President and VP for Finance, Mr. Frederick C. Badillo; VP for Academics and Research, Dr. Cecilia Pring; SLIA Executive Director, Dr. Maribeth Buenviaje; Dr. Roberto Escarre Urueña, UA Director of Institutional Projects, Dr. Oana M. Driha, and other faculty members and deans from various Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the country.
CHED, UA – Spain, and LPU – Batangas hope that through this project, all the participants from different HEIS will be able to strengthen their curriculum regarding Tourism Planning and Policies, Smart Tourism, and Digital Tourism, Sustainable Tourism, and Tourism and Hospitality Management.
