The road to success is not easy. But I always believe that if you want to be successful in life, you should always pray hard, work hard, have sheer determination, and must have a good educational foundation, which the Lyceum of the Philippines University has provided me and my wife.
It provided us an especially important tool that prepared us as we faced the different challenges in the field of Physical Therapy. In all modesty, when we took the Philippine Board Exams for PT/OT, out of more than 10,000 examinees, only half were successful, and I was one of the board topnotchers. When we decided to migrate to the United States and applied for educational credential assessment, we never had any problems since we met the US equivalent for our academic credentials from LPU.
Being part of the Asian-American minority in the US, we were able to show them that we, Filipinos, are industrious, trustworthy, smart, and dedicated to our profession and that we brought with us a good educational foundation that can be at par with other nationalities around the world.
Currently, my wife and I have a doctorate in Physical Therapy. I have worked in different settings (skilled nursing facility, sub-acute outpatient, and home health). My wife works in a prestigious hospital in California with both inpatient and outpatient settings with a specialization in lymphedema and oncology rehabilitation. We have two wonderful kids, and we are living the American dream. Truly, we can say #ButiNaLangNgLyceumAko!
