Robredo graces CBA symposium on Good Governance
Hon. Maria Leonor ”Leni” Gerona Robredo graced the symposium of the College of Business Administration on the occasion of its College Days, December 6, 2013.
The topic Good Governance, Honesty and Integrity was very aptly discussed by the Congresswoman from the 3rd District of Camarines Sur and widow of the late DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo.
Hon. Leni Robredo shared the commendable practices of the people of Naga when it comes to good governance. In her husband’s term as mayor of Naga, he made it a point that there is a transparency wall so that all transactions in the local government are well accounted for and made public. The citizen’s charter is another innovative practice wherein every Nageño is provided with a citizen’s charter which empowers the citizen to file complaints against corrupt officials and government staff who are not providing good and efficient service to its people. In Naga, they do not see the poor people as a burden, but a means to solving problems in the city. Even the late Jesse Robredo was a known champion of the poor, he was known for his “Tsinelas leadership” which is the willingness to wade in the flood, willing to go where you normally do not go, to the most remote areas, just to be with the most disadvantaged people.
It was Mrs. Robredo’s first time to visit Batangas and the Lyceum of the Philippine University, Robredo mentioned that she was surprised with the enthusiasm of the audience and the warm welcome of the LPU family.
