The Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas (LPU-B) proudly takes its place at the forefront of a national movement to elevate English communication skills among Filipinos. On May 19, 2025, LPU-B representatives participated in the official launch of the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) National Roadmap for Global Competitiveness in Communication Skills (NRGCCS) held at the CHED Central Office in Quezon City.

The initiative unveiled two major learning tools: a newly launched Filipino-to-English course on Duolingo, available both on the web and through mobile apps, and a collection of enriched Open Educational Resources on YouTube titled “Global English Competitive Modules.” Both resources are designed to offer free and flexible English language education, making world-class instruction accessible to Filipinos from all walks of life.

Representing LPU-B at the launch were Dr. Arnie Christian D. Villena, Dean of the College of Computing, Arts, and Sciences (CCAS); Dr. Bella P. Magnaye, Associate Dean of the College of Nursing (CON); Dr. Mischelle A. Esguerra, Director of the Academic Center; and Dr. Jaywell D. Mendoza, faculty member from the CCAS.

During the event, Dr. Villena emphasized the importance of language in bridging opportunities, stating, “We are breaking barriers and opening doors to international success by bringing these resources to our community and beyond.”
By supporting national initiatives like the NRGCCS, LPU-B plays an essential role in preparing Filipinos to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
