Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas (LPU-B) has strengthened its commitment to sustainability by partnering with Barangay Simlong, Batangas City, for an environmental initiative. Through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on February 21, 2025, both parties pledged to collaborate on tree-planting and sustainable practices to promote environmental conservation and climate resilience.

Present at the MOA signing were Simlong Barangay Captain Rufo T. Caraig and LPU-B officials, including Mr. Frederick Badillo, Senior Vice President/VP for Finance; Dr. Cecilia C. Pring, VP for Academics and Research; Dr. Conrado I. Dotong, AVP for Academics and Research/Chair, Risk Management; Ms. Everlyn De Castro, Director, Planning and Quality Assurance Office/QMR; Dr. Jennifer Maderazo, Dean, College of Dentistry; Mr. Ruben Silang, Director, Physical Facilities Management Office; and Mrs. Venus Bautista, Dentistry Secretary.
Under the agreement, LPU-B will mobilize its students and employees to participate in tree-planting activities in Barangay Simlong. This initiative aims to raise awareness about environmental conservation, promote community participation, and contribute to combating climate change.

Moreover, LPU-B will provide seedlings for the initiative, while Barangay Simlong will assist in identifying suitable planting areas. The sustainability of the project will be ensured through a shared responsibility model, with both the university and the barangay collaborating on the maintenance of the planted seedlings.
This partnership exemplifies LPU-B’s dedication to fostering environmental stewardship and strengthening its role in advancing sustainable development in local communities.
