Going full throttle in facing the challenges of globalization, lyceans continuously learn beyond borders as they participate in various international programs and competitions.
One of our most recent wins is in the 2023 Asian English Olympics held at the BINUS University, Jakarta, Indonesia, last February 13 to 18. Ma. Gloria Isabelle N. Pechay, a 3rd year AB Communication student, was hailed champion in the Newscasting Competition, with Francheska Keira D. Comia, a Grade 12-STEM student as her first runner-up. She was also hailed as the Best in News Reading. Grabbing the first runner-up spot for Radio Drama Competition were our 3rd year Communication students Aliah Marie Makalintal, Arville Ramos, Wendhyl Manalo and Mai Tanaka. They were joined by their coaches, Dr. Arnie Christian Villena and Mr. Dan Emerson Desiderio.
Secondly, Lycean CAMPers got the chance to undergo a two-week Korean Health Training Program under our partner school, Daegu Health College in South Korea. The program focused on various healthcare related activities, academic sessions, and cultural immersion activities. The thirteen Medical Laboratory Science Students and Physical Therapy Students were joined by Dr. Karen Magtibay, Dean, and Dr. Simple Flores, Assistant Dean.
Another CAMPer, a first year Medical Laboratory Science student, Ivie Jean Ortega, had the once in a lifetime chance to join the UMAP Discovery Camp Winter 2023: The Globe (Global Bound & Exchange): Discover Indonesia, hosted by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember in Surabaya & UNISSULA Semarang, Indonesia. A total of 20 participants from the different parts of Asia got the chance to explore Indonesia through city tours, academic sessions on technology development in society, city development, culture, art, food, and social interaction.
She also received the UMAP Scholarship Award for her outstanding performance in all activities of the program. She received a cash prize amounting to 500 USD. It is also worth noting that she was the youngest among the 20 delegates.
These wins only show how good our students are here at LPU-Batangas. Moreover, these milestones were made possible through LPU-B’s efforts of fostering partnerships with reputable institutions outside the Philippines.
