LPU-Batangas proudly participated in the 4th International Research and Education Conference (IREC), organized by the Association of Filipino Teachers and Educators in America (AFTEA) in collaboration with Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST). The conference, held from June 29 to July 6, 2024, in New York City, USA, revolved around the theme “Trailblazing the Futures of Education Initiative: A Commitment to Renewed Perspectives through Global Collaboration.”
Aligned with UNESCO’s Reimagining Our Futures Together initiative, the conference served as a vital platform for research and innovation, promoting global collaboration among educators. The event featured a range of activities, including meet-and-greet sessions for presenters and participants, benchmarking activities, the main conference proceedings, a gala night with an awarding ceremony, and an educational tour of prestigious universities.
The IREC was participated by various Private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs), Department of Education (DepEd) Schools, New York Department of Education Schools, and other institutions across the United States.
Dr. Maribeth G. Buenviaje, Executive Director of LPU-Batangas’ Strategic Communications, Linkages, and International Affairs was invited to be one of IREC’s plenary speakers on the topic: “Navigating Global Pathways: The Internationalization Journey of Higher Education.” In her talk, Dr. Buenviaje explored the challenges and opportunities of internationalization in higher education, emphasizing the importance of strategic partnerships, cultural exchange, and innovative practices to enhance the global competitiveness of educational institutions. The presentation highlighted LPU-Batangas’ successful initiatives in forging international collaborations and developing programs that prepare students for a globalized world. Furthermore, she was also invited to sit as a panel reactor during the simultaneous research presentations along with Dr. Arnie Christian Villena, Dean, College of Computing Arts and Sciences.
Moreover, three delegates from LPU-B presented their papers at the conference. Dr. Annalie Pateña who was also invited as a session moderator, presented her research entitled: Navigating Challenges: “Crisis Management and Skills Gap Reduction in Private Universities” and was awarded 2nd Best Paper for Track 1. Another faculty, Dr. Beverly Caiga was also a session moderator and presented her research on Foreign Language Learning Enjoyment, Language Learning Curiosity and Learning Engagement of Chinese Non-English Major Students. She was also awarded 2nd Best Paper for Track 5. On the other hand, Dr. Hencel Shaira Vizco presented her research on Professional Commitment, Personal Productivity, and Quality of Work Life Among Employees of Maritime Higher Education Institutions. She further gained the 3rd Best Paper for Track 2.
