Another renowned achievement was made known by LPU–Batangas as the University ranked 1st in Region IV-A and 4th in the Philippines in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, highlighting the University’s continued efforts to advance sustainable development through education, research, stewardship, and community engagement.
The recognition places LPU–Batangas among the leading Philippine higher education institutions assessed by THE for their contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Sustainability Impact Ratings evaluate universities based on their performance and impact across broad areas encompassing research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching. For the 2026 edition, participation in the Sustainability Impact Ratings became membership-based.
Participating institutions first joined the Sustainability Impact Network, after which they underwent an in-depth assessment of their contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals. The Philippines recorded 160 participating universities in the 2026 assessment, reflecting the country’s strong representation in the global sustainability-focused higher education landscape. LPU–Batangas also strengthened its position in the global higher education rankings. The University advanced from the 1,001–1,500 band in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings to the 801–1,000 band in 2026, placing it among the top 62% of 1,603 universities worldwide included in the ranking.
These recognitions reflect LPU–Batangas’ continuing efforts to integrate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its academic, institutional, research, and community initiatives. The University’s sustainability efforts are particularly anchored on SDG 4: Quality Education, through its commitment to providing accessible, inclusive, and quality education; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, through skills development, employability, entrepreneurship, and preparation of students for productive and meaningful careers; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through research, innovation, technology, and initiatives that contribute to institutional and community development; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through meaningful collaborations with communities, government agencies, industry partners, academic institutions, and other stakeholders.
As LPU–Batangas continues to strengthen its initiatives in education, research, community engagement, and sustainability, it remains committed to creating meaningful impact and preparing Lyceans to contribute to sustainable development in their communities and beyond.
