In a steadfast demonstration of environmental advocacy and institutional legacy, Lyceum of the Philippines University–Batangas (LPU-B) conducted a native tree-planting activity on October 2, 2026, dedicating 60 saplings in honor of Chairman Emeritus Mrs. Lorna P. Laurel. The initiative paid tribute to Mrs. Laurel’s decades of leadership, grace, and service to the academic community, translating institutional gratitude into dynamic ecological action. By establishing this green area on campus grounds, LPU-Batangas reinforces its mission to integrate sustainability into the core identity of the university.

To maximize environmental impact, LPU-Batangas executed the project in strategic collaboration with BINHI, the flagship forest restoration initiative of Energy Development Corporation (EDC).

The partnership focuses on the propagation, rescue, and mainstreaming of threatened native Philippine tree species. Through this joint effort, the university actively contributes to local biodiversity preservation, helping safeguard endemic flora while supporting ecosystem rehabilitation.
Furthermore, this environmental undertaking directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education) through hands-on civic engagement, driving SDG 13 (Climate Action) via carbon sequestration and climate resilience, and furthering SDG 15 (Life on Land) through terrestrial ecosystem restoration and native tree conservation.

Through initiatives of this scale, LPU-Batangas continues to bridge institutional tradition with sustainable development, ensuring that the legacy of its leadership yields long-term environmental and social benefits for future generations.
