Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas (LPU-B) and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Regional Office IV officially sealed a long-term strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on September 4, 2026, at the LPU-B Main Campus.
The ceremonial signing formalizes years of cooperative engagements between the academic institution and the maritime regulatory body. What began as a series of joint seminars, capability programs, and industry exposure trips has matured into a structured institutional framework designed to bridge academic training with real-world maritime demands. Under the agreement, MARINA Region IV will extend technical expertise, regulatory insights, and direct industry guidance to LPU-Batangas. The collaboration targets key developmental areas, including curriculum enrichment, joint research initiatives, faculty immersion, and comprehensive student development geared toward the global seafaring and cruise line sectors.
Officials from both institutions underscored that the initiative directly addresses rapid technological shifts, updated regulatory standards, and the evolving competencies required aboard modern commercial and passenger vessels. By aligning its maritime and cruise hospitality programs with MARINA’s industry benchmarks, LPU-Batangas aims to sharpen its graduates’ competitive edge, ensuring students transition seamlessly from state-of-the-art campus training to deployment across domestic and international waters.
