Senior High School student Trisha Alexa A. Cueto earned a Gold Award at the International Science Olympiad Competition of Southeast Asia (ISOCSEA) – National Round 1 on July 11, 2026, securing her place on the Philippine Team for the competition’s international round in Shanghai, China, this December.
Cueto, a Grade 12 STEM Medical student, represented LPU–Batangas in the national-level competition, where her performance earned her one of the competition’s highest distinctions and a place among the students who will represent the Philippines at the international round. Her qualification marks a significant achievement for both Cueto and the LPU–Batangas Senior High School Department, highlighting the academic opportunities available to students who pursue excellence in their respective fields.
She competed under the guidance of Mrs. Harlene M. Zaraspe, Area Chair for Mathematics and Applied Sciences, whose role as her coach supported her participation in the competition. Beyond the Gold Award, Cueto’s inclusion in the Philippine Team opens an opportunity for her to bring her skills and knowledge to an international academic arena. The ISOCSEA International Round in Shanghai will bring together participants from different countries, providing Cueto with an opportunity to engage in an international science competition and represent both her school and country.
For LPU–Batangas, Cueto’s achievement reflects the institution’s commitment to quality and inclusive education, providing students with opportunities to develop their knowledge, skills, and potential beyond the classroom. Her participation in national and international academic platforms supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education)by encouraging academic excellence and lifelong learning, while promoting access to opportunities that contribute to SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
