PSFI Conducts HIV/AIDS Lecture at LPU Batangas
Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc. (PSFI) in cooperation with LPU’s Human Resource Development and Management Office is currently conducting a lecture on HIV/AIDS today at the Le Café. This lecture aims to educate LPU students and employees about R.A. 8504 or the AIDS law enacted in 1998 under the presidency of Fidel V. Ramos which constitutes mandatory HIV/AIDS education in schools such as LPU Batangas. Mr. Julius Elope from PSFI is conducting the lecture together with Dr. Stella Flores. In his talk, Mr. Elope mentioned that students or employees with HIV should not be discriminated and those suspected with HIV infection should only be encouraged to seek medical help and not to force disclosure of their disease if diagnosed. PSFI together with other government agencies like the Dept. of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Department of Health (DOH) are working on Zero New HIV Cases, Zero Discrimination and Zero AIDS-Related Deaths. The group is also conducting free HIV testing for those who want to be tested.
