LPU-Batangas’ commitment to education is unwavering, as exemplified by the recent Pre-Employment Seminar 2023, organized by the Career Development, Alumni and Placement (CDAP) Office. The event, with the theme, “The Future of Work: Thriving in Employment in the Post-Pandemic”, took place on June 14, 2023, at the Freedom Hall.
The ceremony was attended by Lycean graduates, dressed in their corporate attire, from a diverse range of fields. These included allied medical, nursing, business, human resource, marketing, accounting, financial management, information technology, computer science, education, psychology, multimedia, dentistry, engineering, tourism, hospitality, culinary, cruise line, and maritime.
The primary objective of this event was to ensure the employability and job preparation of the graduating Lyceans through an in-depth discussion of topics that focus on Preparing Young Professionals for the Future Labor Market, Labor Education, the Universal Health Care Act, Social Security System and its programs, processes, services, and latest policies, and Overseas Employment for Millennial Workers.
Invited experts from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) IV-A, Department of Migrant Workers (formerly POEA), Social Security System (SSS), and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) Regional Office IV-B graced their presence to impart valuable knowledge necessary in preparation for employment in a local and international setting.
To welcome the guests and participants, the Vice President for Academics and Research, Dr. Cecilia C. Pring, delivered her message of appreciation and statement of purpose in line with the conduct of the Pre-Employment Seminar. Moving forward, the keynote speaker of the afternoon session was Dr. Virgina D. Akiate, CESO III, Director IV, Commission on Higher Education Region IV-A who imparted her expertise on her topic “Preparing Young Professionals for Future Labor Market”.
Distinguished guests from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) IV-A, Department of Migrant Workers (formerly POEA), Social Security System (SSS), and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) Regional Office IV-B shared their expertise to provide valuable insights on employment preparation for both local and international settings.
Meanwhile, Ms. April Rose Magpantay, the Labor and Employment Office III of the Department of Labor and Employment Batangas Provincial Office discussed the Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) which is one of the employment programs of DOLE.
The Overseas Employment of the Millennial Workers was discussed by the Coordinator of the Department of Migrant Workers, Ms. Karen M. Quilao. PhilHealth Regional Office IV-B, on the other hand, was represented by Ms. Donna Marie D. Mitra, Point Person for Marketing who discussed the Universal Healthcare Act.
The last pair of guest experts from the head office of the Social Security System were Ms. Reylinda P. Coronado, Senior Communications Analyst and Ms. Abigail P. Mallari, Assistant Communications Analyst of SSS who provided information on SSS and its programs, services, processes, and policies.
To answer the students’ queries, an open forum was held during the event. It was then followed by the awarding of plaque of appreciation for the invited guest speakers from different government agencies and awarding of winners and special awards of the Mock Job Interview Contest 2023 held last June 5, 2023 at the Board Room of SHL Building.

The Top 3 of the Mock Job Interview Contest 2023 were Gabriel De Castro (CCS), and Elloise Tiffany T. Gulay (LIMA). Meanwhile, gaining the spot of Top 2 were Marion Florentino (NURSING), and Frismarc Macalintal (CCJE), and the pair who were awarded as Top 1 were Carlo A. Panganiban (CITHM), and Christina Isabel A. Ponce (CEAS).
A Special Citation for Best in Cover Letter was awarded to Carlo A. Panganiban (CITHM), Best Resume was given to Alliza Michaela R. Ansaldo (DENT), Best Corporate Appearance was obtained by Hans Herbert Hernandez (CBA), and Christina Isabel A. Ponce (CEAS) got the special award of having the Best Communication Skill.
Dr. Alex D. Ylagan, the Director of Career Development, Alumni and Placement Office delivered his message of appreciation to the guest speakers, participants, and all colleges for the success of the Pre-Employment Seminar conducted face-to-face after a few years of conducting the event on a virtual space.
