Five lycean Medical Laboratory Science students won second place in the experimental category of the PAMET Junior Scientist Research Forum held on September 18, 2023.
Isabela Cassandra Marquez, Nicole Ashley D. Platon, Jan Aron S. Mista, Gerson M. Javier Jr., and Kristian Royce D. Custodio presented their research entitled “Phaseolus vulgaris L. (Baguio bean) extract as an alternative nutrient source for the culture medium of the selected fungal strains.”
The research was supervised by Cyrene Elijah S. Amorado, an RMT and MSMLS. The team’s success in the PAMET Junior Scientist Research Forum highlights the importance of exploring alternative sources of nutrients for culture media in research. The study’s findings could contribute to the development of more cost-effective and sustainable methods in laboratory experimentation.
