LPU Christmas Tree Lighting
The Human Resource Management and Development Office held the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Activity at the SHL lobby, December 2, 2013.
Administrative personnel, faculty members and students gathered for a short program, a yearly event that signifies the start of the Christmas season in LPU. Annually the HR office identifies members of the LPU community who will do the sharing, this year it was Ms. Maria Gonda (CEAS Dept. Secretary) and Mrs. Potenciana Suarez (Director, MMOM). Both shared their struggles in life and their sacrifices along the way. Miss Gonda a cancer survivor said that it was her strong will power and faith that made her survive losing two of her loved ones in the face of her battle with cancer. Mrs. Suarez on the other hand, said that her suffering is still nothing as compared to the suffering of others. Dr. Cecille Pring, Assistant VP for Academic Affairs gave an inspirational message; in her speech she reminded everyone that the true meaning of the season is the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior.
The program also gave way to the launching of the “LPU Tree of Hope” project which aims to raise funds for the typhoon Yolanda survivors. Each Christmas ball costs 20 Php and can be hung on the Christmas tree along with the donor’s Christmas wish. This fund raising activity will last until December 20, 2013.
