LPU Batangas and Energy Development Corporation Ink MOA for the BINHI Program
To enhance LPU-B’s Greening program, the university has established a partnership with the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) through its BINHI program signified by a virtual MOA signing last February 24, 2021. EDC is a global and diversified renewable energy company in the Philippines and BINHI is their flagship environment program which aims to restore denuded forests, preserve and propagate threatened native tree species and protect biodiversity. With this, LPU–B community shall collaborate with EDC for the planting, growing, and protecting the said tree species and put up an Arboretum at the university’s Riverside Campus. The said project shall be participated by the students, employees, alumni, and other stakeholders of the university. This is the first collaboration of EDC with a university as both institutions have the same mindset when it comes to the protection of the environment for the benefit of future generations.
As an institution of higher learning, LPU-B subscribes to all legal mandates of the country, including the Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999, Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004, Ecological Solid Waste Management Act, Toxic Substances and Hazardous and Nuclear Waste, Writ of Kalikasan, Philippine Environmental Impact Statement System, and Pollution Control Law. In addition, the university supports both the National and International Greening and Biodiversity programs.
