LPU-B runner-up in National Search for Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Schools
Lyceum of the Philippines University Batangas was awarded as runner-up in CALABARZON for the National Search for Sustainable and Eco-friendly Schools. The awarding ceremony held at the Bayview Hotel in Manila November 7, 2013 was attended by Dr. Alex Ylagan (former OSA Dean), Atty. Reynold Beredo (OIC-OSA), Engr, Ed Benavidez (Director, PFMO) and Engr. Edu Barairo (Deputy Director, PFMO).
Sustainable and eco-friendly schools are environment-friendly schools who have initiated and integrated programs in their tri-fold function or administration that are environment-related in nature. This search is in support of the Celebration of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014) and Republic Act 9512: Environmental Awareness and Education Act.
The organizers, spearheaded by the Dept. of Energy and Natural Resources believe that the school system is a focal point of learning, as it is a major potent and powerful vehicle for change. The university also deems it important to change our attitude towards caring for the environment and the best way to spark that change is to start with our students.
