STCW Training
Revised Basic Training (BT)
- EFA – this Elementary First Aid course covers the mandatory competences and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Section A-VI/1, Table A-VI/1-3 of the STCW Code. This course requires a total of sixteen (16) instructional hours to cover the topics enumerated in Part B – Course Outline.
- PST – this Personal Survival Techniques course covers the mandatory competences and the required knowledge, understanding, and proficiencies prescribed in Section A- VI/1, Table A-VI/1-1 of the STCW Code. This course requires a total of sixteen (16) instructional hours to cover the topics enumerated in Part B – Course Outline.
- PSSR – This Basic Training – Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (BT-PSSR) forms part of the Basic Training course required under Regulation VI/1 in relation to Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Convention, 1978 as amended. This component addresses the mandatory competences and the corresponding knowledge, understanding and proficiency set out in Table AVI/1-4, Section A-VI/1, STCW Code of the said Convention. It provides seafarers with the essential understanding and skills necessary to develop safe working practices, maintained good human relationship onboard, and comply with safe working procedures and environmental protection measures. This BT-PSSR component has a total duration of twenty-four (24) hours, consisting of theoretical instruction and practical demonstrations, and covers the topics listed in Part B – Course Outline.
- FPFF – this Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting course covers the mandatory competences and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Section A-VI/1, Table A-VI/1-2 of the STCW Code. This requires a total of sixteen (16) instructional hours to cover the topics enumerated in Part B – Course Outline.
Updating PSSR
- This Updating Course on Basic Training – Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (BT-PSSR) covers the new competence and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Table A-VI/1-4, Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Convention, 1978, as amended, and pursuant to Resolution MSC.560 (108), adopted on 23 May 2024 by the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) of the International Maritime Organization. This course consists of eight (8) hours, including theoretical instruction and practical demonstrations, covering the topics listed in Part B – Course Outline.
SAT – SDD
- This Security Awareness Training and Seafarers with Designated Security Duties course covers the mandatory competences and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Section A-VI/6, Table A-VI/6-1 and Table A-VI/6-2 of the STCW Code. This requires a total of eight (8) hours instructional hours to cover the topics enumerated in Part B – Course Outline.
RBT
- This Refresher Course on Basic Training aims to meet the requirement in paragraph 3 of Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code which states that “seafarers qualified in accordance with paragraph 2 in basic training shall be required, every five years, to provide evidence of having maintained the required standard of competence to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in column 1 of Table A-VI/1-1 and A-VI/1-2.” This course requires a total of sixteen (16) instructional hours to cover the topics enumerated in Part B – Course Outline.
RFPNW
- This Ratings Forming Part of a Navigational Watch course covers the mandatory competences and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Section AII/4, Table A-II/4of the STCW Code. This course requires a total of forty (40) instructional hours to cover the topics enumerated in Part B – Course Outline.
RFPEW
- This Ratings Forming Part of a Watch in a Manned Engine-room or designated to perform duties in a Periodically Unmanned Engine-room course covers the mandatory competences and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Section A-III/4, Table A-III/4 of the STCW Code. This course requires a total of forty (40) instructional hours to cover the topics enumerated in Part B – Course Outline.
AFF
- This Advanced Fire Fighting course covers the mandatory competences and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Section A-VI/3, Table A-VI/3 of the STCW Code. This requires a total of thirty-six (36) instructional hours to cover the topics enumerated in Part B – Course Outline.
MEFA
- This Medical First Aid (MEFA) course covers the mandatory competences and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Section A-VI/4, Table A-VI/4-1 of STCW Code. This course requires a total of thirty-two (32) instructional hours to cover the topics enumerated in Part B – Course Outline.
STPPDSPPS
- This Safety Training for Personnel Providing Direct Service to Passengers in Passenger Spaces course covers the mandatory competences and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Section A-V/2 paragraph 2 of the STCW Code. This course requires a total of six (6) instructional hours to cover the topics enumerated in Part B – Course Outline.
PSCM
- This Passenger Ship Crowd Management Training course covers the mandatory competences and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Section A-V/2 paragraph 3, Table A-V/21 of the STCW Code. This course requires a total of ten (10) instructional hours to cover the topics enumerated in Part B – Course Outline.
PSCMHBT
- This Passenger Ship Crisis Management and Human Behaviour Training course covers the mandatory competences and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Section AV/2 paragraph 4, Table A-V/2-2 of the STCW Code. This course requires a total of sixteen (16) instructional hours to cover the topics enumerated in Part B – Course Outline.
Step 1 | Evaluation and Assessment : The applicant/trainee shall be assessed and evaluated by the LMTC Personnel using the Enrolment Form.
Step 2 | Submission of Requirements : The applicant/trainee must fill out the Enrolment Form and submit all required documents listed below:

- For marine students: wear the prescribed MARINE uniform
- Valid Medical Certificate for Service at Sea
- Must be issued by a MARINA-accredited medical laboratory
- SRN (Seafarer’s Registration Number)
- Create an account via the MARINA MISMO System
- Electronic Signature
- To be used for the MARINA MISMO enrollment report
- Microsoft Teams Installation
- Download and install the Microsoft Teams application
- Your username and password will be provided by the LMTC Office
- Passport-Size Picture
Step 3 | Payment of Training and Assessment Fee: The training and assessment fee shall be paid at the Cashier’s Office or through online banking.
Step 4 | Verification of Payment: The LMTC Personnel shall verify the proof of payment through the ERP system.
Step 5 | Assignment of Trainees: The official list of trainees shall be assigned to specific classes, with a maximum of 24 trainees per class.
Step 6 | Encoding to MARINA MISMO System: The trainee information shall be uploaded and encoded in the MARINA MISMO Stakeholders Portal.
