Lyceum International Maritime Academy (LIMA) & Norwegian Shipowners’ Association (NSA) held its Batch 30th Parents and Cadets Orientation, MOA Signing and Company Orientation, welcoming a new batch of cadets aboard LIMA. The event was held on September 16, 2023, at the Lyceum International Maritime Academy Gymnasium.
The event kicked off with a warm welcome message from Mr. Frederick Badillo, LPU-Batangas’ Senior Vice President and Vice President for Finance. Capt. Knutz Bentzrod, the NSA Deputy Director, also gave an inspiring message. Capt. Bentzrod’s experience and insight into the program provided an excellent introduction to what the NSA does. He also reminded the 200 cadets entering LIMA that they earned their place in the program and are deserving of the best careers as seafarers.
Afterwards, Mr. Larry Gonzales, Msc, the NSA Cadet Program Manager, spoke about the program and what the cadets could expect during their time with the organization. Parents and cadets alike had the opportunity to learn more about the program and ask any questions they had.
One of the highlights of the event was the Batch 29 Silent Drill, which showcased the skills and discipline of the cadets. Following the drill, the NSA Pinning Ceremony took place, where the cadets received their official NSA pins, signifying their commitment to the program.
Finally, the event concluded with the company orientation and dialogue with the cadets and parents. This gave everyone a chance to learn more about the company and what it does. It was also an opportunity for the NSA to get to know the new cadets and their families better.
Overall, the Batch 30th Parents and Cadets Orientation, MOA Signing and Company Orientation was a testament to the NSA’s dedication to excellence, diversity, and inclusivity. The event served as a platform for the new cadets and their families to feel welcomed, valued, and supported in their journey towards becoming competent and compassionate leaders. LIMA is confident that the Batch 30th will live up to its expectations and contribute to the LIMA & NSA’s legacy of service and integrity.
