Straight Program

Straight degree program in Master of Science in Criminal Justice with Specialization in Criminology (MSCJ) to Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice with specialization in Criminology (PhD CJ) provides deserving students to earn two degrees simultaneously. The program endeavored to produce graduates who are experts and with high level professional competence in the field of Criminology and Criminal justice and take initiatives in the advancement of those fields through research and innovation.

Academic courses included in the curriculum equipped graduates of various competencies that are highly sought after by employers in government and the private sector and by leading universities offering Criminal justice programs. The acquired practical knowledge likewise, enhance their abilities in leadership and management, research on crime causations, criminal justice-related policy and practice settings.

The complete program curriculum for MSCJ to Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice with specialization in Criminology (straight program)

Three (3) to five (5) years after graduation, alumni of Master of Science in Criminal Justice with Specialization in Criminology shall; 

  • be committed practicing criminal justice professionals equipped with advanced knowledge, and necessary skills and attitude;
  • be competent research-oriented professionals applying investigative and critical thinking skills in managing and problem-solving;
  • be humanity-oriented and collaborative individuals who are able to lead and network with national and global clientele, criminal justice practitioners, and other institutions.

At the end of the program, MSCJ students are expected to: 

  • Demonstrate perspectives to crime and law (1,2)
  • Apply advanced and scientific knowledge and skills essential to the practice of Criminology and the Criminal justice profession (1)
  • Analyze, criticize and solve problems related to the management and practice of Criminology and criminal justice through the conduct of researches and critical studies. (2)
  • Lead, interact and influence through the employment of appropriate communication tools to colleagues, local, national and global clientele and other stakeholders. (1,3)
  • Recognize and respect human nature and complexities of gender and cultural diversity (3)
