The Master of Arts in English Language Studies (MAELS) program is designed to further explain and explore the foundation of language studies and the application of second language teaching approaches towards the enhancement of teaching and learning of the English language. Its focus is also on curriculum design, development and evaluation, and the enhancement of instructional materials through research and innovative techniques intended for the continuous development of language teaching and learning.

The complete program curriculum for Master of Arts in English Language Studies
Three (3) to five (5) years after graduation, alumni of Master of Arts major in English Language Studies shall:
- have developed a higher level of competency in the four macro-skills with high regard to societal needs and ethical responsibilities both nationally and globally.
- have demonstrated professional and technological skills through empirical researches enabling them to become responsible educators and leaders in their careers and community.
- have pursued continuous lifelong learning for professional growth.
By the time of graduation, Master of Arts major in English Language students shall have the ability to:
- communicate effectively in articulating their ideas from different perspectives;
- apply a higher level of thinking in academic/ creative writing;
- produce innovative teaching, learning strategies, and activities;
- function effectively on teams to accomplish a common goal;
- engage in continuing professional development;
- apply the research process in preparing instructional materials, presenting and publishing articles in educational journals nationally and internationally; and
- understand professional, ethical, legal, and social issues and responsibilities.
