Initially, I enrolled in the BS Medical Laboratory Sciences but then it came to a point that my parents can no longer afford to send me to school if I continue the program. So, I gave up my dreams of becoming a doctor but still chose to stay in LPU. I’ve said to myself that no matter what, I wanted to graduate from this school, so I shifted to BS Computer Science instead. Practically speaking, this was what my parents wanted. At first, it was really hard, imagine yourself going to school every day taking the course which you don’t have passion for from the start. The most difficult part was that you really don’t know where to start and where to go. But as the years went by, I eventually saw myself loving the path I was perhaps destined to take. I enjoyed every subject, especially programming. I composed myself, I started to join different school activities and competitions, not to brag but I also have good grades which led me to pursue more. I was also able to rebuild my confidence. One example was when I represented the CCS in the research paper presentation and won 3rd best presenter. I won’t be able to do this without the help of all the professors and staff of LPU, especially our dear college who believed and supported me throughout the competition. I know that I am still climbing the ladder to my success, but I am deeply honored to be one of the Cum Laudes of our batch and one of the top 5 performing students of BSCS. This only proves that I only got the best and high-quality education at LPU.
After 2 months after I graduated, I got hired as an Information Technology Specialist at TaskUs. From there, I was able to practice and pursue my profession in the IT industry. I’ve been an Information Technology Specialist for 3 years and 8 months and learned how to cope with the corporate world. I have always been selected as the shift lead and POC of the IT team. I was awarded as the Most Valuable Performer of the team for two consecutive years and top performer of the Support Staff for our site for two Quarters. Our company sent me to the Taiwan site as a representative to make sure that all IT concerns and issues will be addressed. One thing that I can say is that I’ve made my IT family proud. LPU Batangas taught me to be on top and always take the lead, generate new ideas, try new ways to do things, and have the determination to make them happen. And now, I was also selected to be part of one of the respected departments in the IT industry, the FRM. I was promoted to be a Fraud and Risk Associate of TaskUs. I still reached my dreams of becoming a doctor, doctor of IT equipment, and IT issues. And now I have already entered the world of risks, security, and threats. There will still be hindrances on my way but LPU Batangas taught me to be competitive, fearless, tenacious, and brave to face those challenges. All I wanna say now is that, Thank you so much LPU and CCS for showering me with your guidance that keeps me soaring high. I’m now one of the birds that you’ve molded to become an eagle. An eagle who will always strive for excellence and won’t settle for anything less. I am proud and will always be proud to say that #ButiNalangNagLyceumAko
