Selecting a degree to pursue in college is not an easy decision. You need to consider that this will be your future, but I knew since I was younger, that I wanted to become a scientist. Enrolling in Lyceum of Batangas to take Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology was the right decision.
The Department, with our Dean and instructors, developed my theoretical knowledge, and honed my skills and practical abilities on the bench. The department also introduced me to Handog ng Safeguard, MedTechs ng Kinabukasan, a scholarship program supported by Safeguard and the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, to which I was lucky to be a recipient of the scholarship grant.
The Institution also guided me in choosing the hospital affiliation for my internship program.
I was fortunate to be trained in one of the best pediatric hospitals in the Philippines. While completing the internship program, our clinical instructor made sure that I have a balanced learning experience by providing continuous academic learning while applying the knowledge on the ground. This experience made me feel that the Institution was truly preparing me to face the world as a young professional once I graduated. And now, working as a Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist here in Singapore, I am truly grateful for all the learnings, experiences, and guidance the Institution has provided me. I am forever proud to be a Lycean.
