Capt. Angelo U. Panganiban, MAMET 2017/BSMT 2012
Licensed Master Mariner, Status Maritime Inc.
“How bad do you wanna be good?”, these are the words from a seasoned sailor and my former instructor at Lyceum International Maritime Academy, the late CM Hermogenes Aguba.
It’s been almost six years from the day I graduated from LPU. But this motivational phrase has been with me all these years. I’ve been on eight cargo vessels, currently on my 9th, was able to circumnavigate the world already, and no matter how big the waves are, I know that there will always be a better course to steer. And on my roughest times, knowing what my calling has been in life, I always remember Sir Aguba’s words, “how bad do you wanna be good?”. Because I wanted it badly to be good, I had the drive to work hard for everything, experience every hardship onboard and be the licensed ship’s captain that I am today.
After obtaining my BS and Masters I could definitely say that LPU does not only lead the business of creating strong minds and providing quality education, but it has also been a molder of young men and women through its outstanding and motivational instructors. And so in the words of Sir Isaac Newton, “if I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants”. LPU is proud of its many traditions, but the one I find most exciting is its long-standing tradition of excellence. #ButiNaLangNagLyceumAko
