Dental Nurse- Bayan Dental Clinic, Kuwait
LPU-Batangas- this institution served as my second home for the past four years of being a nursing student. At first, my dream was to become a doctor, either a pediatrician or a cardiologist, but due to some unexpected happenings, I wasn’t able to achieve my dream, but I am still grateful for what I have achieved and the job that I have right now.
I took the board exam right after graduation and by God’s will and the hard work I passed! Finding a job during that time was not easy due to the increasing number of nurses who were either unemployed or underemployed, I was one of them, I tried to search for local and overseas jobs. Those great experiences during my job hunting helped me a lot, the knowledge I acquired from different people, as to their culture and other aspects of life as well molded me to be what I am right now. Luckily, I was hired and assigned to the Central Sterile Services Department, then re-assigned as a Maxillo Facial Dental Nurse for almost 2 years in Bayan Dental Clinic, one of the prestigious Dental clinics here in Kuwait.
I am grateful to my former clinical instructors in LPU who helped me to become a competitive, independent, and skillful nurse. Remembering those hard times on duty, cases we need to comply with the following day, patients we were assigned to, and meeting them as part of our work also inspired us. These great experiences that I have will be kept, and that I can be truly proud of being Lycean, in mind and in the heart.
Let me share my realizations with you our future Lycean Nurses. We must believe in ourselves that whatever we dream we have, if we strive and stay focused, and have a positive outlook in life we will achieve it. We may have different paths in life or plans, but our main goal is to be SUCCESSFUL. Have faith and let God guide you, pray to him and ask for his guidance and protection for every decision you are about to make to reach the path you want to go through not only for yourself but also for the people around you. We should also be grateful for family and friends who are behind every decision we make; they are the ones who will give us their ultimate support.
Thank you, LPU-B, faculty, and staff of the Nursing Department, to Dr. Alex Ylagan, our Director for Community Extension, for giving me the chance to share my own experiences and for all your continuous support to all your former students. #ButiNalangNagLyceumAko
