The Master of Arts in English Language Studies (MAELS) program is designed to further explain and explore the foundation of language studies and the application of second language teaching approaches towards the enhancement of teaching and learning of the English language. Its focus is also on curriculum design, development and evaluation, and the enhancement of instructional materials through research and innovative techniques intended for the continuous development of language teaching and learning.

THREE (3) TO FIVE (5) YEARS AFTER GRADUATION, ALUMNI OF MASTER OF ARTS MAJOR IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE STUDIES STUDENTS SHALL:
- Have practiced higher level of competency in the four macro-skills with high regard to societal needs and ethical responsibilities both nationally and globally.
- Have applied professional and technological skills through empirical research.
- Have become responsible educators and leaders in their field.
BY THE TIME OF GRADUATION, MASTER OF ARTS MAJOR IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE STUDIES STUDENTS SHALL HAVE THE ABILITY TO:
- Communicate effectively in articulating their ideas from different perspectives.
- Apply higher level of thinking in academic/ creative writing;
- Produce innovative teaching, learning strategies, and activities for second language teaching and learning.
- Demonstrate mastery in the analysis of socio-political and language-in-use discourse, and classic and contemporary foreign and local literature.
- Engage in continuing professional development.
- Apply the research process in preparing instructional materials, presenting, and publishing articles in educational journals nationally and internationally.
