About ECOViP

ECOVIP, a project co-funded by the European Commission and coordinated by Nha Trang University, aims to develop entrepreneurial and innovation capacities for sustainable development in tourism in Vietnam and the Philippines. This project promotes the development of innovative interdisciplinary entrepreneurial Ecotourism projects by Higher Education Institution students, in cooperation with the private sector. ECOVIP also intends to develop a roadmap for the improvement of the education programs in Tourism, with the guidance of the private sector.

The project consortium comprises 11 universities from Austria, the Philippines, Portugal, Spain, and Vietnam, in addition to a tourism agency in Vietnam and an ecotourism association in the Philippines. LPU-Batangas is specifically involved in WORK PACKAGE 6 (WP6) for Curriculum Development, with the main objective of enhancing the capacity of Philippine and Vietnamese HEIs to foster sustainable development in tourism. By creating educational content in entrepreneurship and initiating a curriculum reform process, LPU-B will also improve graduates’ employability. As part of this effort, LPU-B will develop a pilot online module on entrepreneurship for students.

LPU-B ECOViP Ecotourism Hub

The Ecotourism hub provides a co-working space for students as they develop their projects and provides the necessary support for students who, due to a lack of financial resources, do not have access to the appropriate Information technology (IT) and audio-video equipment to develop their projects.

The Hub also organizes campaigns (with online and offline aspects)  to raise awareness of the importance of conservation and the many possibilities of sustainable development (e.g. through Ecotourism actions) involving the natural environment, particularly in cooperation with local communities in more isolated areas.
