Almost three (3) decades after leaving my Alma Mater and still reminiscing those days when I was there. Thank you Lyceum of the Philippines University Batangas (formerly Lyceum of Batangas) for helping me know what “SUCCESS” is all about.

It was not an easy journey, but as it turned out, my college years in LPU was one of the greatest chapters of my life. I was not what you would call a model student, but I enjoyed every moment of it. We had many great quality professors, ranging from practicing doctors of medicine to professors with lengthy experience on their resumes. There was a balance between academics, sports, and cultural activities that I got to participate in. The last year of college, which was a 12-month internship from three different hospitals was the most challenging and rewarding experience. This was the peak of our learning curve. This is where we put the theories we learned from school into practice. I am so lucky to have rotation duty in some of the best hospital affiliations: Batangas Regional Hospital (now BatMC), Philippine Air Force Hospital in Pasay, and the National Orthopedic Hospital (now Philippine Orthopedic Center). It was then that I realized the importance of Medical Technology which I chose to pursue and felt pride and honor knowing that my future job plays a very important role in a patient’s treatment.

It was never easy to become an IT professional, the learning and exploration in the IT-industry never stop. Good thing, the College of Computer Studies (CCS) of LPU molded me to become an innovative and creative IT professional. CCS opened opportunities for us to attend several seminars and workshops to discover the current trends in technology. They encouraged us to join university-wide and national IT competitions, to be competitive while improving our teamwork and collaboration skills. CCS also developed us to become young leaders by taking an active role in student organizations and activities to inspire and help more students. Lastly, CCS celebrates students’ successes by giving recognition and awards.

To be a successful Policeman was my dream when I entered my first year at the Lyceum of the Philippines University- Batangas. This University instilled discipline and gave students tools for their chosen career. During my college years as a Criminology student, I met excellent and competent professors who gave their limitless expertise and experiences to enable us to achieve whatever goals we have for the future. The most important thing that I have learned from them was to become passionate about all the things that I do and the desire to not stop in believing that I will achieve the highest peak of my career. Through the skills and knowledge acquired, I am always ready to become a leader and role model to the young ones now.

LPU opened a lot of opportunities for me in different bartending competitions which made my career and myself ready for the world. I was a 4-time National Champion of the Philippines for Flair bartending and Top 8 in the World for in the International Bartending Association (IBA) Word Flair bartending Competition held in Tokyo, Japan in 2016. Being a top flair bartender in the world was my dream and I thank the College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management for all the support I got when I was still a student. I previously worked as a Food and Beverage Executive at Mandarin Oriental Singapore, Head bartender at the Fat Prince in Singapore, and now an On-trade Specialist at Willian Grant and Sons Singapore Distribution Pte. Ltd. I manage over 200 accounts of their spirits and cocktail listing. William Grant and Sons is the biggest family-owned Whisky Company in the world. The company has received the highest accolade of Distiller of the Year from either the International Wine and Spirits Competition or the International Spirits Challenge 12 times in the last 13 years. I am also a brand ambassador of their spirits portfolio.

I gained my Nursing Foundation at Lyceum of the Philippines Batangas, from 2004-2008. What I love most about this institution is its heart for the needy. LPU never forgets to share its blessings to the less fortunate in the community through its Community Extension Program which I have actively participated in and was recognized for it during our commencement exercises.

Back in 2006, I was one of those High School graduates who was dreaming to either become an engineer or accountant. I got selected to be a Student Assistant and was advised to either enroll in IT or Computer Science. I chose Computer Science and I did not regret that decision. I am who I am now because I was put on the right track. Lyceum of the Philippine University expects nothing less than the best from every student. Professors at this university are there not just to teach but also to inspire. They are compassionate and caring toward students. The staff members are excellent, and the rules help keep the school safe and in order. LPU has the best curriculum and facilities to help students learn. They will provide everything in order to make their students reach their full potential.

As I look back, I couldn’t be more thankful to God for letting me live my dream of working in an International Cruise Ship. It was only a blurred dream before, no assurance that after taking my degree program in Cruise Line Operations in Hotel Services that I will be given the chance to work as a Receptionist at one of the well-known Cruise Ships in Asia today. All of these blessings would never be possible without the help of LPU (Lyceum of the Philippines University Batangas), which served as my second home for four years. This was the place that taught me how to become a professional Hospitality Practitioner. I will never forget all the times I spent at this wonderful university especially all of my professors as they honed e to become what I am today. I can justify that choosing LPU Batangas was the right choice for me and for my chosen career as they will not only give you quality education but would also develop your character with all the necessary traits to become professional in your chosen field. In LPU, you will not only learn your subjects objectively but you will be trained to apply it and test your skills to the limit.
