Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to student safety, health, and holistic well-being, Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas conducted a Campus Safety and Emergency Orientation on October 20, 2026, at the Riverside Campus Gymnasium for Senior High School (SHS) students. The event brought together key campus leaders, educators, and safety specialists to equip young learners with practical knowledge and proactive strategies for managing emergency situations and personal health concerns.

The orientation featured two resource speakers who shared critical guidance on campus safety, mental preparedness, and threat response. Dr. Merlinda Pesigan, Director of the Counseling and Testing Center, addressed proactive health and wellness responses, emphasizing the essential role of personal awareness, self-vigilance, and responsible decision-making in maintaining mental and physical well-being. Meanwhile, Mr. Anthony P. Malifier, Safety Officer and representative of Maximum Security Services, Inc., provided actionable tactics for responding to security threats and unexpected incidents, highlighting the importance of staying calm under pressure, remaining alert, and promptly reporting suspicious activities or safety threats to school authorities and emergency personnel.

This initiative directly aligns with LPU-Batangas’ institutional commitment to embedding the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) into campus development programs. It supports Quality Education (SDG 4) by creating safe, non-violent, inclusive, and effective learning environments conducive to student growth. Additionally, it promotes Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) by enhancing campus disaster risk reduction, crisis preparedness, and overall institutional resilience, while exemplifying Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) through effective multi-sectoral collaboration with external security professionals.

Actively supported by the Assistant Vice President for Student Services, the High School Principal, Area Chairs, faculty members, and Senior High School students, the event highlighted a unified effort across the university. Through continuous initiatives like this orientation, the LPU-Batangas community remains steadfast in its mission to nurture a safe, supportive, and resilient environment where every Lycean can learn and thrive securely.
