Strategic partnership signed in Makati City opens dual degrees, faculty-student mobility, and joint research initiatives for CITHM programs.

Advancing its institutional footprint on the global stage, Lyceum of the Philippines University–Batangas (LPU-B) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Australia’s Western Sydney University (WSU) on October 15, 2026, during a ceremony held at Alphaland Makati Place.

This strategic partnership establishes a comprehensive collaborative framework between both institutions, creating wide-ranging global opportunities initially centered on academic programs within LPU-B’s College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (CITHM). Through this agreement, LPU-Batangas and Western Sydney University will explore the feasibility of several high-impact academic and research endeavors. These include joint research projects, co-organized academic conferences, seminars, and lectures, as well as joint publications and shared scholarly activities.

Crucially, the partnership aims to develop joint academic programs and double degree pathways, where qualified students can earn distinct degree diplomas or certificates from both institutions. Furthermore, the collaboration opens doors for faculty exchanges and international student mobility, alongside other mutually agreed-upon initiatives designed to elevate educational standards.

By uniting local academic strength with top-tier international standard-setting, this alliance actively advances several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The partnership promotes Quality Education (SDG 4) by broadening access to internationalized learning environments and double degree opportunities. It supports Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) by equipping graduates with globally competitive skill sets for international hospitality and tourism careers. Additionally, it fosters Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9) through joint research endeavors and co-published scholarly work, while exemplifying Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) through cross-border higher education cooperation.
Through this landmark milestone, LPU-Batangas continues its steadfast commitment to shaping globally competitive Lyceans who are fully prepared to lead, innovate, and succeed on the world stage.
