In celebration of its 58th Founding Anniversary and as part of its commitment to sustainability, the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas (LPU-B) launched the LPU Green Project: 100 Trees for Lorna on November 28, 2024, at the LPU-B Arboretum, Riverside Campus, aiming to plant 100 trees in honor of Madame Lorna Perez-Laurel’s remarkable journey and legacy.

The LPU-B Arboretum is requisite to the university’s collaboration with the BINHI Foundation of the Energy Development Corporation (EDC). This partnership reflects LPU-B’s dedication to promoting green living and fostering a sustainable future and paying tribute to its heritage of environmental stewardship.
The tree-planting activity witnessed participation from 258 students and employees across various colleges and offices.

The event commenced with inspiring remarks from the Vice President for Academics and Research (VPAR), Dr. Cecilia C. Pring, who set the tone for the day. Following this, the Assistant Vice President for Academics and Research (AVPAR) and Graduate School Dean, Dr. Conrado I. Dotong, delivered a heartfelt statement of purpose, expressing his gratitude to all participants and highlighting the significance of tree planting as a proactive measure against climate change. Dr. Dotong also recognized the invaluable support from the EDC management, particularly their continued provision of free seedlings that make projects like this possible.
Through initiatives like these, LPU-B exemplifies how educational institutions can take meaningful strides toward creating a greener and healthier planet.
