Policy Statement and Objective
LPU-Batangas (LPU-B) prioritizes the safety and well-being of its students, employees and other stakeholders. This policy aims to establish clear, standardized protocols for the suspension of classes and office work during typhoons and inclement weather, specifically adapted for the Flexible Learning Mode. The objective is to ensure timely communication, minimize risks to life and property, and provide a clear framework for academic continuity (asynchronous sessions) when applicable.
Scope and Coverage
This policy applies to:
• All students (High School, College, Graduate School, LMTC, and CTEL).
• All faculty members and administrative staff.
• Interns and student trainees.
• All visitors and external assesses on the LPU Batangas campus.
Definition of Terms
• Flexible Learning Mode: A combination of synchronous (real-time) and asynchronous (self-paced) learning.
• Asynchronous Classes: Lessons where students engage with materials at their own pace without real-time interaction, often used when synchronous connectivity is compromised.
• CSMC: Center for Strategic Marketing and Communications; the sole authorized office for official university announcements.
• LMTC & CTEL: Specialized training and assessment centers within LPU-B.
• PAGASA: Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

Suspensions by Government or Institutional Order
Classes and work are automatically suspended if a formal order is issued by:
- Malacañang (Office of the President)
- NDRRMC (Red Rainfall Warning)
- Commission on Higher Education (CHED)
- Local Government Unit (City of Batangas or Province)
- LPU-Batangas Management
Information Dissemination Process
To avoid confusion and misinformation, the following protocol must be followed:
- Authorized Source: Only the CSMC Office is authorized to release official announcements.
- Channels: Announcements will be posted on:
- LMS: MyLPU
- Website: www.lpubatangas.edu.ph
- Social Media: Facebook/Twitter/Instagram: @LPUBofficial
- Direct: SMS/Text Messaging
- Security Personnel: Campus guards may only release information to the public once they have received official confirmation from the CSMC Office.
Roles and Responsibilities
- CSMC: Monitoring weather bulletins and issuing timely announcements across all official platforms.
- Deans and Department Heads: Ensuring faculty members transition to asynchronous mode (Signal No. 2) and monitoring student engagement.
- Security Office: Verifying suspension status with CSMC before informing visitors or students at the gates.
- Employees: Responsible for their own safety . Note: In cases where employees choose to report to school despite order the University shall not be held liable for any untoward incidents occurring during their travel and stay.
Effectivity Date
This policy takes effect immediately upon approval and replaces all previous guidelines regarding weather-related suspensions.
Review Schedule and Approving Authority
- Review Schedule: This policy shall be reviewed annually every June, prior to the onset of the typhoon season.
- Approving Authority: University President, Senior Vice President, VP for Institutional Affairs, VP for Academics and Research, and AVP for Student Services.
