A new chapter in hospitality and tourism education unfolded as the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas (LPU-B) and Megaworld Hotels & Resorts formally sealed a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on May 12, 2026, at the LPU-Batangas Main Campus.
The milestone partnership was further celebrated through a ceremonial Sampaguita planting activity at the Riverside Campus Arboretum, symbolizing the shared commitment of both institutions to sustainability, cultural preservation, and the nurturing of future hospitality professionals.
Leading the ceremonial signing were Dr. Peter P. Laurel, University President of LPU-B, and Cleofe C. Albiso, Managing Director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts. The partnership strengthens the connection between academe and industry to provide transformative learning experiences anchored on authentic Filipino hospitality.
The collaboration opens opportunities for students through internships, on-the-job training, experiential learning programs, and industry immersion activities across Megaworld Hotels & Resorts properties. It also supports the implementation of the Study and Learn Program, integrating academic instruction with real-world hospitality training to better prepare students for future careers in tourism and hotel management.
In line with emerging hospitality trends, both institutions will work together in developing micro-credential and certification programs, including Halal Certification, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE), and other tourism-related specializations aimed at equipping students with globally competitive skills.
“This partnership with Lyceum of the Philippines University–Batangas is a meaningful step forward in shaping the future of our industry,” said Albiso. “Through strengthened experiential learning and industry collaboration, we hope to inspire future hoteliers to embody the heart of the Sampaguita in everything they do.”
The Sampaguita Project, a signature advocacy of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts rooted in love, honor, dignity, and healing, will also be implemented across LPU-Batangas campuses to promote Filipino culture, heritage, sustainability, and hospitality excellence among students and communities.
To further strengthen industry-academe collaboration, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts will facilitate mentorship opportunities, hospitality workshops, seminars, training sessions, and site visits aligned with current industry standards and best practices.
The partnership reflects a shared vision of elevating Philippine tourism and hospitality education while creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation of Filipino hospitality leaders.
